London Stay: Back Home

Today I set off to go back to Singapore. Lisa's family had helped me with the luggages and accompanied me to Heathrow. We had taken overland to catch a bus to the airport. We departed at Terminal 3.

It was a 7 hrs from London to Doha, and another 7 hrs from Doha to Singapore.
I felt peace when the plane touched down Singapore as there was so much turbulences till I think if the plane flow longer, I will make myself faint.

I had reached Singapore on 29 Oct around 2pm SG time.

London Stay: Day 6

This morning, Teck Hong had dropped Benjamin to a birthday party. It was a lunch party which after two hours, we would be back to fetch Benjamin.

Natalie wasn't feeling well. As we needed to come back to fetch Benjamin, we still proceeded to Richmond Park, the largest Royal Park in London. There are many roaming deers. As time was limited, we just dropped by Isabella Plantation, which is a garden riched in flora and fauna.

The route map of Richmond Park.

Guess what is Natalie doing?

Teck Hong and Natalie had also stopped by a van to buy hotdog, which was Natalie's lunch that day. After that, we drove back to pick Benjamin up and headed back to the apartment.

Left: Guess Natalie must be very hungry. Right: Natalie: Excuse me, is the hotdog ready?

Hotdog is hot from the oven.

That night, I had challenged Benjamin to a game of sudoku and proud to say, I had won. :) I had a deal with Benjamin that he will practice and when he returns to Singapore, we will challenge each other again. I had done up some math questions for Natalie. I was impressed by Natalie where at her age of 5, she is able to summation of 2 digits e.g. 54 + 45.

London Stay: Day 5

This morning Lisa needed not to go office so early. We had breakfast first time in the week. Then she packed Bak Kua sandwiches for us so that we could bring it along when we went to stroll at Battersea Park, which is situated on the south bank of the River Thames opposite Chelsea.

We were just starting to take stroll.

Had noticed the white flowers and had to stop to take photos.

Noticed the building behind us? Those are leaves in different colors. Very beautiful.

We had walked along the riverside (I think should be River Thames, not very sure) from Lisa's home. It's a nice, slow stroll to the park. The park is huge. There was a little English garden which gave out some nice herb smell. Then we reached a place where Benjamin and Natalie could feed the birds at the pond. I saw many squirrels too.

From left: Battersea Park Route Map; This is the fountain of the park; Can see Benjamin and Natalie from afar?

From Left: English Garden; Do you have the same feeling as me? The squarrel seems to be well fed.
The children were enjoying feeding the ducks and birds.

It started raining too. When the rain became small, we continued to the kids' favorites - Playground. This playground is secured with guards to make sure kids are not kidnapped from the playground. The guard even chatted with us for awhile. She informed that there will be a renovation of the playground soon and the place will become a nicer ground for the kids.

From left: Mmm... it's time to train Natalie to be more lady like. Ha...; A ice cream van; We were about to leave the park.

Later that day, we went to the supermarket Somerfield nearby to do groceries. Although things in London are expensive, there are still things that are not so expensive like a box of ice cream where I can buy at 1 pound.

We slept early on this day due to the tiredness from the long walk.

London Stay: Day 4

Benjamin had a visitor over to spend a day with him. It seems to be local culture to have kid spending time another family.

London Stay: Day 3

We went to Natural History Museum today. We (Teck Hong, Benjamin and Natalie) took a bus there. When reached, we were met up with Lisa. It was such a long queue at the entrance. Heard from Lisa that it was school holiday for the children. This explains why it was so crowded in the museum.

Museum main hall

There are four zones in the museum: Red, Blue, Green and Orange. We had walked to the Green Zone to see the minerals and meteorites which Benjamin seemed interested. We skipped Red and Orange zones as there were too many people.

Minerals. Benjamin showed interests in the gallery.

We went straight to Blue zone - Dinoseurs portion only. Along the way, we saw some lifelike moving dinosaurs. We had wanted to see T-Rex, however it was closed and according to the museum, T-Rex needs winter checkup.

From left: Does this baby dinosaur look alive? It even moved a bit while we were looking at it; This is the infamous T-Rex

I managed to take a photo with Natalie in the Museum before she got tired.

We did not stay long in the museum as Natalie was groomy and Teck Hong was not feeling well. After out of the museum, we had walked awhile. Then Teck Hong had stopped over a shop to buy french fries which I though we were like cavepeople snatching away to eat. Quite an experience.

We had later caught a bus back to the apartment, where Lisa had started to cook.

London Stay: Day 2

Today we took an overland from Clapham Junction to Windsor & Eton Central. There, we saw the Windsor Castle . Windsor Castle is one of three official residences of The Queen. The Windsor town is beautiful. There were a lot of tourists too.
The Windsor Castle Gate and Tower

From Windsor town, we took a shuttle bus (Note: This shuttle bus is not free.) to Legoland, where we got to see miniland which are made up of the lego bricks. These bricks make up of many significant London places. Besides London, miniland also has some modelled after places in Paris, Amsterdam, etc.

From left: This is just a small part of Legoland; Notice those flowers, they are made from Lego bricks; George and Dragon are made from Lego bricks too; Miniland's London Eye.

We managed to take a few rides like Hill Train, Sky Rider, etc before the rain came. There is a particular game that I find it special which is the Fire Academy where the family has to get up the fire engine and challenge the other 3 family team to get to the 'burning' building to put off the fire. Sound fun!!
I took these rides while I was there.

From left: I wanted to try this but the queue was too long; Lisa & Natalie are looking at the kids driving (This is the driving school after each ride, the kid will be certified with a driving licence); This is the Fire Academy I mentioned.

Beside the rides, we had caught a live action show by the Legoland people. It's called the 'Secret of the Scorpion Palace' where an actor 'Johnny' was trying to rescue a princess when the bad guys are hunting for the sapphire scorpion. I was impressed by the actors' high dives.
Live action show setting

It was near evening time that we left Legoland and headed back home. This night, I guessed I still was having jetlag as I slept 9pm UK time again.

P.S. As my camera spoilt, these photos were from Teck Hong and Lisa's previous trip to Legoland and "The official Windsor Site"
